Tips on Cleaning Up After Pets in San Diego

However much you might train them not to, your dog is likely going to pee indoors every now and again- it’s something they can’t help. But that doesn’t stop pet odors and stains from being a real nuisance- especially since if you don’t get every trace of it out, they are likely to keep doing it again and again. Dogs use their pee to mark their territory, so they are naturally inclined to pee pretty much everywhere. Getting them spayed or neutered will help, but it rarely stops them entirely. However, by putting the following tips into practice, you can train your dog to keep the peeing indoors to a minimum and keep your carpet smelling fresh.

  • As soon as your puppy is old enough to be potty trained- do it!
  • Have your dog spayed or neutered, since this will immediately reduce the amount that they pee inside.
  • Show them the right way to do it- give your dog a treat when they pee outdoors so they know what they should be doing.
  • If your dog won’t stop peeing in a certain area, keep them away from it until they have learned not to.

Cleaning Up Dog Urine:

When your dog does pee inside there are several dog odor and stain removal techniques. It’s essential that you clean it up ASAP to get it all out. To make a homemade clean-up mix, you’ll need:

  • Water
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • A spray bottle
  • Some cloths or towels

Start by filling the spray bottle about three-quarters with water, and then add around 3-4 capfuls of the white vinegar. Shake well, then use the cloths to soak up as much of the urine as possible. Once that’s done, spray the leftover stain with the spray bottle, and let the solution soak right down to the carpet padding. Leave to sit for a minute or two, then pour some more cold water to the spot, before soaking that up in the same way as the urine.
